From 2nd February, Jott, a free voice-to-text

March 9th, 2009

From 2nd February, Jott, a free voice-to-text service will no be available. All the users of Jott will now be required to part with a sum of $4 dollars per month to even transcribe into e-mail.
When it existed on beta, Jott had been offering all its services for free until last August. But all this was changed when its use was limited to transcribing 15-second voice call posts for Twitter and other blogging services. Jott could also be used for getting your favourite RSS feeds read to you on the phone. These things are still possible but with a paid account. A “Jott Basic” plan which will still remain free, but all it allows you to do is leave voice messages to the online “Jott desktop”; it doesn’t include the feature that previously made Jott quite useful, namely the ability to have voice messages transcribed and sent directly to your email account, Google Calendar, Twitter among a host of other supported services. For that, you have to pay $3.95 a month for the regular plan or $12.95 for the “Pro” plan. Also, the basic plan includes ads, which is very convenient for internet marketing. Jott is also trying out a voicemail transcription service at a cost of $9.95 a month for up to 40 messages, very similar to what CallWave, GotVoice, MessageSling, and others provide
